Hamden Resident Claims “Lucky-4-Life” $2,000 a Week for Life Top Prize
A municipal employee with a fondness for special numbers associated with her son, played those numbers in the CT Lottery’s “Lucky-4-Life” draw game and won one of the Lottery’s most enviable top prize—$2,000 a week for LIFE. As Connecticut’s newest lottery Lucky-4-Life millionaire, Lowry is guaranteed to receive prize money every week for the rest of her life.
The November 10, 2011 Lucky-4-Life winning numbers were 9 - 18 - 24 - 27 and the Lucky Ball was 31. In addition to Lowry’s prize, there were a total of 8,965 other winning tickets sold for the game on that date, with prizes ranging from $5 up to $10,000 in value. Lowry is the sixth Lucky-4-Life top prize winner since the game began in 2009.
Lucky-4-Life is a unique lottery game because its top prize value is based on the longevity of the winner. The minimum guaranteed amount a top prize winner could receive is $2,080,000 ($2,000 a week for 20 years), but, winners who live longer than that will receive prize payments each week for the remainder of their natural life.
Lowry told Lottery officials that she discovered her win the morning after the Lucky-4-Life drawing by logging onto the CT Lottery’s website. Checking her tickets, Lowry found a perfect match. “I then called the Lottery’s winning numbers hotline to listen to the numbers. When they matched, I called my son and made him go to the website, too, and tell me what the winning numbers were. I just started crying when he told me,” Lowry said.
Lowry’s winning purchase was made at Meadowbrook Spirits located at 2783 Dixwell Avenue in Hamden. For selling the ticket, Meadowbrook Spirits will receive a $20,000 Selling Bonus from the CT Lottery.
