Northfield Man Gets the “Royale” Treatment, Wins $50,000 PrizeThursday afternoon, Bill O’Connor of Northfield stopped at Sunoco Food Mart located at 207 Birge Park Road in Harwinton to put $30 worth of gas in his car and to buy a CT Lottery “$50,000 Royale” instant ticket.
While the pump automatically filled the tank, O’Connor casually scratched his ticket and was immediately rewarded with a number match worth an incredible $50,000. “It was pretty awesome,” O’Connor told Lottery officials. “I brought the ticket back inside the station and had the clerk scan it. I couldn’t believe it!”
O’Connor arrived at CT Lottery headquarters in Rocky Hill on Friday and accepted a prize check for $34,151 (value after taxes). “This prize really comes at a good time,” said O’Connor. “It will help pay off some bills and give us a chance to get ahead a little.”
For selling O’Connor his $50,000 prize winning ticket, Sunoco Food Mart will receive a $500 bonus from the CT Lottery.
The winning names, stories and photos on this website are just a small number of the thousands who claim prizes. The fact is, people win every day with the CT Lottery! Below is a list of recently claimed prizes of $10,000 or more. Please Note: When a winning scratch ticket is validated through a Lottery Retailer's terminal, the remaining number of unclaimed prizes for that prize level is automatically updated reflecting one less prize. Until the individual or group presents their winning ticket for claim at CT Lottery Headquarters, the identity of a winner is unknown.
