Kahn’s Dairy in Marlborough Sells $3,000,000 Lottery Prize Winning TicketThe CT Lottery announced today that Abdul and Rehene Kahn, store owners of Kahn’s Deli in Marlborough, sold the first $3,000,000 top prize winning ticket in the $30 instant game “$3,000,000 Riches,” which launched on September 17, 2012.
Winners Stephen and Wendy Worley of Colchester arrived at Lottery headquarters in Rocky Hill Tuesday to officially validate their ticket, which displayed a winning number match for the game’s top prize. The match gave the Worleys a choice of a 20-year annuity prize worth $3,000,000 or a cash lump sum value of $2,307,300. Opting for the cash lump sum, the Worleys accepted two prize checks totaling $1,575,896 after taxes.
Kahn, a CT Lottery retailer since 2001, couldn’t be happier about his lottery customer’s tremendous windfall. “He’s a regular customer and a very nice man,” Kahn told lottery officials. “My wife and I were really very, very happy when we heard we sold the ticket. We were jumping up and down!”
Thanks to the Worleys’ good fortune, the Kahns are also big winners. For selling the $3,000,000 top prize winning ticket, Kahn’s Dairy, which is located at 394 N. Main Street, will receive a $30,000 bonus check from the CT Lottery.
The winning names, stories and photos on this website are just a small number of the thousands who claim prizes. The fact is, people win every day with the CT Lottery! Below is a list of recently claimed prizes of $10,000 or more. Please Note: When a winning scratch ticket is validated through a Lottery Retailer's terminal, the remaining number of unclaimed prizes for that prize level is automatically updated reflecting one less prize. Until the individual or group presents their winning ticket for claim at CT Lottery Headquarters, the identity of a winner is unknown.
