Instead of Counting Sheep, Lottery Winner Counts $100,000 in Prize MoneyInstead of counting sheep when he couldn’t sleep one evening, Shawn Brennan of Gales Ferry was counting dollars—100,000 of them, that is, all on a single top prize winning CT Lottery “
Jumbo Bucks” instant game ticket.
“I went to bed, and woke up in the middle of the night. That’s when I played the Jumbo Bucks ticket I bought earlier that day,” Brennan explained. “When I saw I won $100,000, I screamed and woke up the whole house,” said Brennan with a hearty laugh. “I made everybody check the ticket to make sure it was a winner; just to make sure I was right.”
Last week, Shawn and his wife, Joanna, arrived at lottery headquarters in Rocky Hill to claim the $100,000 prize. “I normally like to play ‘Cashword’ tickets, but when I noticed the new ticket, Jumbo Bucks, I bought it instead. I’m really glad I did,” Brennan said, barely able to contain his excitement. “We’re definitely going to side the house, pay some bills and put some money aside for a family vacation.”
Brennan’s top prize winning Jumbo Bucks ticket was purchased at Henny Penny #22 located at 1673 Rte. 12 and Chapman Lane in Gales Ferry. For selling the ticket, Henny Penny will receive a $1,000 check from the CT Lottery.
