Another Ashford Resident “Hits the Big One” Wins Lottery “Super Draw” Top PrizeWith a population of only 4,317 residents, the beautiful bucolic town of Ashford has certainly seen a large share of Lottery luck. Out of the thirteen CT Lottery “Super Draw” drawings held over the last 4 years, Ashford has produced not one, but two Super Draw top prize winners. On January 1, 2012, Marilyn Rossi won the New Year’s Day Super Draw single $1,000,000 top prize. Today, it was Alice King’s turn to claim the Lottery’s 50/50 Super Draw $103,887.50 top prize for the March 18th drawing with the winning ticket number 027800.
“My husband checked the lottery’s website for the winning number this morning and yelled out to me, ‘We hit the big one!” King told Lottery officials with a laugh. “I didn’t believe him, of course, because he’s always kidding with me. It wasn’t until my son took the ticket and checked the number on the computer that I believed it.”
This morning, King and her husband, Robert, arrived at CT Lottery headquarters in Rocky Hill to happily claim their 50/50 Super Draw top prize for $103,887.50 (value before taxes). “We’re going to pay off our bills, give my old car to my son, and get a new used car for ourselves,” said King.
Ticket sales for the 50/50 Super Draw game began on February 2, 2015 and ended on March 17, 2015. A total of 41,555 tickets were sold for $5 each. The game’s $103,887.50 top prize was based on 50% of the game’s total sales.
King’s top prize winning 50/50 Super Draw ticket was purchased at Cumberland Farms #4693, located at 33 Pompey Hollow Road in Ashford. Cumberland Farms will receive a $1,038.88 bonus check from the CT Lottery for selling the ticket.
The winning names, stories and photos on this website are just a small number of the thousands who claim prizes. The fact is, people win every day with the CT Lottery! Below is a list of recently claimed prizes of $10,000 or more. Please Note: When a winning scratch ticket is validated through a Lottery Retailer's terminal, the remaining number of unclaimed prizes for that prize level is automatically updated reflecting one less prize. Until the individual or group presents their winning ticket for claim at CT Lottery Headquarters, the identity of a winner is unknown.
